The damaged HDMI port and PCB connection were successfully repaired, restoring normal display output to the console.

Rather than replacing the entire motherboard or console, the fault could be resolved with targeted component and board-level repair.

Fault: Damaged HDMI port / No display
Repair: HDMI port replacement + PCB pad repair
Result: HDMI output restored and tested ✅

6. The Result

4. The Repair

The damaged HDMI port was carefully removed from the motherboard and the area was prepared for the replacement.

Our technician repaired the affected PCB connection before fitting the new HDMI port, ensuring the connector was properly aligned and securely soldered to the board.

The surrounding HDMI circuitry was then checked again before the console was reassembled.

Fox Tech Repairs provides nationwide UK mail-in console diagnostics and HDMI port replacement for Xbox and other gaming consoles.

Once the repair was complete, the Xbox Series S was powered on and connected to a display.

The console successfully restored HDMI video output, confirming that the repair had resolved the original no-display fault.

Further testing was then carried out to make sure the HDMI connection remained stable and the console was operating correctly before being returned to the customer.

5. Testing & Verification

Once the console was disassembled, our technician inspected the HDMI port and the surrounding area of the motherboard under magnification.

The original HDMI port required replacement, but we also checked the connector pads, traces and surrounding components for any additional damage that could prevent the console from displaying correctly after a new port was fitted.

2. Diagnosis

3. What We Found

Alongside the damaged HDMI connector, an issue was identified with one of the PCB connector pads underneath the port.

This meant simply replacing the HDMI socket would not have been enough. The damaged area of the board also needed attention to ensure the replacement port had the correct electrical connections.

This is why we inspect the board itself rather than treating HDMI repairs as a simple connector swap.

1. The Problem

This Xbox Series S came into us with a damaged HDMI port and no display output.

Physical damage to HDMI ports is a common fault on games consoles. While the connector itself is often the obvious problem, damage can sometimes extend to the PCB underneath, so the board needs to be properly inspected before fitting a replacement.
